Live STRONG Day

Today is Live STRONG day and we are celebrating it with a special tribute to the Mom's grandma Leona, (1929-1996) who fought a brave battle against breast cancer. We are also celebrating it to honor all our friends and loved ones who are battling cancer, or who have passed away due to the evil C. One day there will be a cure for cancer and we will LIVE STRONG forever! We are sad to say that she is not here for us to cuddle up and purrr on her lap, but she lives on in our hearts forever and we know that she would be proud to have us as her grand-cats. We love you and miss you! We want to honour all those who have fought against cancer and continue to live STRONG on their journey in life. You are special, amazing, and words cannot express our honour and admiration for each and every one of you. For those who fought the battle against cancer and have crossed the bridge, we want to say that you won. You did not loose. Death cannot ever take away your love that you had for us and we have for you. Your memories and love are here and do not fade. They grow stronger with each passing day, and though my tears may appear, one day a smile will shine on my face as we share a hug in heaven. We WILL meet again. But until then, I will wait.
Your hope and love and courage through your journey lives on in our hearts. And one day, we will meet again.
We don't have a photo for Grandma (yet) but when mom goes through the photo album with us, we will post dear Grandma Leona's beautiful picture.

Cancer is so limited...
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot eat away peace.
It cannot destroy confidence.
It cannot kill friendship.
It cannot shut out memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot reduce eternal life.
It cannot conquer the Spirit.

Lost Posties

Furiends, our bloggie did some weird things and some of our favourite posties have been deleted! But never fear, we restored them and here they are! Sorry if some of the meowing is not as it was originally, but the posties are still fun to read!So grab some catnip cocoa and enjoy the ride down memory lane....
                            Awards!

We are so grateful and honored to say that we have been awarded by our new friends at Twinkletoe Tails some fantastic awards! This is the first time we have ever won an award and we are so happy to know it came from such special kitties! Thank you for making our day and putting a big smile on our faces!
This means so much to us and words can't express our joy. Thank you. HUGS and kisses!

Here are 7 things that you didn't know about us:

1: Traveler got his name from his adventure filled spirit as a kitten: he loved to 'travel' and we would always find him walking around the cat room--he even tried to take on the stairs once!
2: Traveler uses Mom's legs as a scratching post sometimes (he also tries to climb them!)
3: Ash loves to hid under mountains of blankets--it's her new favourite hidey spot!
4:Sherlock loves catnip--but only the fresh live plant version (he doesn't go for the dried stuff)
5: Ash is picky when it comes to wet cat food and only eats select flavours (chicken only, please!)
6:Sherlock purrs more than he meows
7:Ash is our 24 hour bug patrol!
We link back to Nerissa the Cat who created this lovely award!

Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet!

Adopt-A-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week 2012
This week is Pet finder's "Adopt a Less Adoptable" pet week and we are celebrating it for a number of reasons, reason number 1 being it's the right thing to do! There are so many loving cats and dogs and other animals in the shelters that are in need of a loving home but people don't want to adopt them because of their special conditions. This is horrible just to think about-- let alone say--but it is true.

Shelters and rescue groups have a harder time finding homes for:
Survey Results

I don't understand why people are this way! Just because we're different does NOT mean we don't deserve the love that other animals are getting. No matter WHAT condition an animal is in(blind, deaf, old, all black, FIV+, different, etc) does NOT mean they don't deserve love. You can provide love, right now. Because love is the strongest thing EVER. And these animals need it more than anything else. They have love in their hearts and are reaching their paws out to humans and asking for one simple thing: a loving home. So please, please, adopt a less adoptable pet--it will be the best decision you have ever made.

Take Traveler for instance. He was born with special needs as a kitten, because he had some behavioural problems, but we still love him! He is the sweetest and playfulest cat our humans could ask for, and they are so happy be his humans and we are so happy to have him as our fellow friend!

Traveler as a kitten
We just have one last thing to say before we go, and that is this:We believe that one day, there will be no such thing as a "less adoptable" pet. One day all pets will be equally loved and not have any problem being adopted out to loving homes. One day, we can make that happen. And it all starts with people who are willing to adopt a 'less adoptable pet', so it can be an adopted pet.

Go to your local animal shelter and do what you can to help out pets with special needs. You can also donate to the Pet Finder Foundation or other rescue groups in your area who are doing what they can to save  less adoptable pets.
